From August 25th to September 1st, Skopje Summer School brought together 60 young musicians from Roma Rock School, Mitrovica Rock School, and Fonty’s Rockakademie, their mentors and professors, as well as staff from Musicians Without Borders and Clash – Learning and Exchange.

The Summer School was a hive of activity, with participants diving into a rigorous schedule of rehearsals and recording sessions. Over the course of the week, 10 bands were formed, each working diligently to create and record new music. The professional studio, Knobs, Keys and Stuff, provided the perfect setting for these bands to bring their musical ideas to life.

Daily rehearsals were a key feature of the program, with each band spending up to five hours a day perfecting their sound and preparing for their final performance. This intensive practice ensured that by the end of the week, each group was ready to showcase their hard work.

The culmination of the Summer School was a highly anticipated concert at Skopje’s Summer Club Havana on Saturday night. The venue was packed, and the energy was palpable as the bands took to the stage to perform their newly crafted songs. The concert was a resounding success, with the audience thoroughly enjoying the diverse and dynamic performances.

The Summer School in Skopje was more than just a series of music workshops; it was an enriching experience that fostered collaboration and creativity among the young musicians. The opportunity to work with experienced mentors and to record in a professional studio added immense value to the participants’ musical journeys.

As the final notes of the concert faded, it was clear that the Summer School had achieved its goal of nurturing talent and promoting musical excellence. The week was a testament to the power of music in bringing people together, bridging gaps between different cultures, and creating lasting memories.

The success of this event highlights the importance of such initiatives in supporting young musicians and providing them with platforms to showcase their talents. With the experience and skills gained, the participants are well-equipped to continue their musical endeavors and contribute to the vibrant world of music.

Skopje Summer School is organized every year as part of the project Music Connects, co-funded by the European Union.
